Who the Hell's Bonnie and Clyde

Who the Hell's Bonnie and

Running time: 94 mins

The time-honored tale of young lovers on the run from the law gets a thoroughly modern Central European makeover in director Krisztina Deák?s provocative yet determinedly low-key character study, Who the Hell's Bonnie and Clyde.

Lili and Pali are ?casual bank robbers? and perhaps ?casual lovers?. With stolen money in their backpacks, they drift along with events. But as always, life throws its curves their way and a series of unfortunate mishaps lead them into hiding. The duo quickly become known as ?the Hungarian Bonnie and Clyde,? but since their crime was committed in a rural setting, the pair are able to elude capture and live a life of conspicuous consumerism (and lots of snuggling) in a series of apartments they inevitably vacate just ahead of the cops. Can their luck hold out?

Based on actual events, Who the Hell's Bonnie and Clyde features a shrewdly-structured script that pays knowing respect to both Sam Peckinpah's The Getaway and Arthur Penn's Bonnie and Clyde. With incredible performance by György Gazsó and Gabriella Hámori, it is a superb example of today?s adventurous Hungarian cinema.
