Prague

Running time: 92 mins

A couple, Christoffer and Maja, go to Prague to bring back the remains of Christoffer?s recently deceased father while their marriage is on its own steady and painful deterioration.

Despite the proximity of Denmark and Czech Republic, the couple may as well be on another planet. With every person they meet, every place they go, Christoffer and Maja are met with one peculiarity after another; when they arrive at the morgue, they must almost sprint to keep up with the doctors or their request for an electrical adaptor results in a maid appearing with an ironing board. As they move from one misadventure to the next?becoming enmeshed in a kind of cultural surrealism?it is apparent that they have their own baggage. And their secrets have far more after-effects than any cultural differences they encounter.

One of Denmark's most accomplished young filmmakers, Ole Christian Madsen (Kira?s Reason: A Love Story, Angels in Fast Motion) has created one of the year?s most courageous films. It is brilliantly written and exceptionally acted?especially the highly versatile Mads Mikkelsen who has already wowed audience in films like The Green Butchers, After the Wedding and most recently Casino Royale. Prague is a brilliant and intense movie about love, loss and loneliness.
