Pure Hearts
Running time: 81 mins
The severely autistic Kriss spends his days in a psychiatric ward obsessively watching his tape of the 1940's film Pure Hearts?even if he has never seen the ending due to having an incomplete copy. Kriss is enamored with the film?s main heroine, the beautiful Linda. After he gets into a spat with a fellow patient, he is forbidden to watch his tape.Deeply upset, Kriss cannot imagine a day without seeing Linda. When he finds out that Linda exists in real life?as the actress Ulla Vilstrup?he and his friend Willy break out of the hospital to find her. However, Kriss sees the world as black and white as his favorite movie, dividing everything into simply good and bad, so when he must face the uncertainties of the real world, Kriss must revise his view of the world and begin to see the color that exists.
Popular Danish comedian Anders Matthesen plays Kriss as a good-natured and delusional man-child, with nice touches of humor as well as sensitivity. Through his journey, Kriss comes to learn that although life may not be like a movie, he can still make the best out of what it has given him.
