In the middle of the night, Quarry, a retired hitman, leaves his lakeside cabin to find snack food at a convenience store. There he sees (but is not seen by) Harry, a Chicago mob underling who is buying various things, including sanitary napkins. This perks Quarry's interest -- why is a Chicago mob guy in these remote parts? Why is the mob guy -- who Quarry knows to be gay -- buying kotex?
