The Sensation of Sight

Running time: 134 mins

Aaron Wiederspahn?s dazzling debut is a brilliant mixture of realism and the extraordinary, giving a stunning portrayal of a man?s search for meaning within the ache of despair.

Finn is a former high school English teacher who now sells encyclopedias door-to-door out of a kid?s wagon. An incident at school caused him to leave his family and to question the meaning of his life, which now consists of sleepless nights, loneliness and anxiety. However, when a disgruntled former student and a timid single mother enter his life, Finn finds he can no longer avoid his family? or his demons.

The Sensation of Sight is a well-observed depiction of small town America, filled with poignancy. David Strathairn gives one of his finest performances as a man consumed with the ghosts of his past as he seeks peace within himself. As Finn tries to define his place in the world, he finds, however, that the road to contentment is strewn with unexpected struggles as well as pleasures.
