48 Film Project Filmapalooza 2008

Running time: N/A

The 48 Hour Film Project is an international filmmaking competition. In its seven years of existence, more than 7,000 teams in nine countries have participated. And ?48 Hours? means 48 hours. The entire movie ? writing, shooting and editing ? is completed in one weekend. Each competition begins on a Friday evening, when filmmakers draw a genre from a hat. Then the filmmakers are off. The final masterpiece is due on Sunday, exactly 48 hours later.

At the end of the year, the winning films are screened at the 48 Hour Film Annual Awards festival ? our Filmapalooza. Cinequest is proud to collaborate with the 48 Hour Film Project and present Filmapalooza. Film from 55 US Cities and 8 international cities will be screened. Filmmakers and the audience will meet and watch the films, celebrate their work, and see who will win the coveted ?Best Film of 2007? award. The award comes with a $7,500 prize, and will be awarded at the 48 Hour Film Project Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 1st. Also presented will be the best film and audience award from the National Film Challenge in which close to 200 teams competed, the winner of the second round competition featuring a Hatuchama crime fighter, five films from the third round of competitions, the HD Showdown, sponsored by Panasonic, and the winner of the inaugural Second Life 48 Hour Film Competition, shot in the virtual world using ?machinima? technology.
