Sa?a is an unexceptional guy: timid, reticent, decent. Instead of the novels he wants to write, he?s the pseudonymous food critic for a Zagreb newspaper. A divorced man, he can see his son only occasionally, their visits framed by the condescending glares of his ex-wife and her new lover. His most frequent phone caller is his mom: why don?t you call more, are you coming to Sunday dinner?

Then he meets Ines, his exact opposite: assertive, capable, beautiful. A sports center registration clerk, nautilus trainer and masseuse, her life isn?t perfect either. Emboldened by her affection, Sa?a attempts to transcend his limits and stand up against the chicanery and duplicity surrounding him. Pavo Marinković (Treseta, Cinequest 2006) returns with this fable of a man who learns that more important than winning or losing is simply having the courage to try.
