Let the Bullets Fly
Running time: 132 mins
"Machiavellian mind games, a twisted vendetta, and high-octane gun slinging."
Chow Yun Fat, Ge You, and actor-auteur Jiang Wen headline this rollicking Chinese western action-comedy, directed with cinematic gumption by Wen.
With the aim of scamming the townsfolk of Goose Town for a fast buck, notorious bandit Zhang marches into the remote town posing as their newly installed governor (after hijacking the train of the real governor). Local mobster and current king of the hill, however, will not let this upset his history of deceit and opposes Zhang's acquisition of power. Tension between the two camps quickly boils over and when blood is spilled, Goose Town erupts into a full-blown power struggle.
Paying homage to Sergio Leone and Akira Kurosawa, albeit with more grandiose action, Let the Bullets Fly is a stylized ballet of bullets, martial arts, and fantasy.
