What do you do when the law says you cannot adopt a child?

In his forties, Thomas desperately wants to be a father. But as a single gay man in Denmark, he cannot legally adopt a child. So, he decides to visit an old friend in Brazil, where there is a thriving black market for adoption.

Maria is beautiful, charming and pregnant, yet she is too poor to support her unborn child. The plan is simple - Thomas will pay Maria and bring her baby back to Denmark as his own. However, things get unhinged when Thomas becomes emotionally involved with the enchanting Maria.

Life is short. Tom is not going to let his illness get in the way of allowing him to enjoy all life has to offer.

Tom and his older brother, Luke, both suffer from cystic fibrosis. While Luke chooses to undergo a lung transplant, Tom prefers to ignore his condition, even as he is hospitalized. In the hospital, Tom meets the rebellious Xavier, who despite suffering from the same disease, keeps his joie de vivre.
