Apple Demonstrates "Script to Screen" and Multimedia Web Technologies. Cinequest and Apple Computer of Cupertino announce a joint exploration of high technology and film during Cinequest San Jose Film Festival VII, running January 30 through February 5, 1997. As a major supporter of Cinequest, Apple will provide hands-on demonstrations of their "Script to Screen" technologies during the festival, showing how the digital revolution has changed every aspect of filmmaking.

Again this year we have a fantastic closing night event planned. You will have a choice of two films. Following the films join everyone for a party at Gordon Biersch. Wild Bunch: An Album in Montage, introduced by the director, Paul Seydor. Followed by Wild Bill: Hollywood Maverick. William Wellman Jr, son of William Wellman, executive producer and creator of the film will answer questions afterwards. 7:00 p.m. (UA). Fine Line presents The Quiet Room by Rolf De Heer. The Quiet Room was an official selection at Cannes in 1996 and has won rave reviews in numerous festivals.

Cinequest is proud to present the World Premiere of The Scottish Tale, the dream of Mack and Joe Polhemus, two brothers who grew up in Palo Alto, CA. Their story is a contemporary, quirky, romantic comedy loosely based on Shakespeare's Macbeth. Mack, an introspective poet, loves his brother Ian's fiancee, Beth. On the day prior to the wedding, Mack's elderly, eccentric aunts prophesize that if three unusual events take place, Mack will marry Beth. Out of loyalty to his brother, Mack does his utmost to prevent these prophesies from coming true.
