The Safe Agua Team from the Art Center College of Design found that in Cerro Verde, a slum in Peru, 30,000 people live without access to running water and sanitation. In response, they designed and created alongside Cerro Verde families products that would help conserve water, reduce illness, and stimulate economic change. Their Safe Agua products earned them the Katherine M. Swanson Young Innovator Award at The Tech Awards 2012 and are a step towards better health and better lives in areas similar to Cerro Verde.
